Casey W. Norris
Casey W. Norris graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983, with honors, and a Master's degree in state politics and policy in 1984, both from the University of California at Davis. While at McGeorge School of Law, he received various scholastic awards and was on the Dean’s Honor List from 1986 through 1990. In 1990, he received his Juris Doctor degreewith distinction, graduating in the top 13% of his class. He joined the Firm in 1990 and is a member of the California State Bar and the Traynor Honor Society. Before attending law school, he worked for the California State legislature and for the U.S. Department of Defense. Mr. Norris is admitted to practice before all courts under the jurisdiction of California, the Eastern and Northern Districts of California, U.S. Federal Court, and is licensed to teach at the junior college level. Mr. Norris is a certified specialist in workers' compensation law, a principal of the Firm. He is listed among the 10 Best Workers’ Compensation Attorneys by the American Institute of Legal Counsel, and he was listed in the Northern California Super Lawyers publication from 2005 through 2016. Mr. Norris is also listed in Attorney and Practice Magazine as a recipient of their Top 10 Workers’ Compensation Law Award fordemonstrating the highest degree of excellence in his area of law.
Peter A Viano is a principal of the Firm and practices in the San Jose office. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree with Great Distinction. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1990. At Santa Clara, he was an Emory Law Scholar and a member of the Santa Clara Law Review. After graduating, he was a Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County, prosecuting a variety of criminal offenses. He joined the Firm in 1992 and practices workers’ compensation as well as subrogation in state and federal courts. He is listed among the 10 Best Workers’ Compensation Attorneys by the American Institute of Legal Counsel and listed in various publications of Northern California Super Lawyers. Mr. Viano is also listed in Attorney and Practice Magazine as a recipient of their Top 10 Workers’ Compensation Law Award for demonstrating the highest degree of excellence in his area of law. Mr. Viano currently serves as the CFO of the Firm. Mr. Viano is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation, is an appointed pro tempore judge, and on the statewide list of arbitrators for workers’ compensation litigation.
Linda B. Williams
Linda B. Williams graduated from California Polytechnic
State University at San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and human
resources management. From 1991 through 1992, she served as a
full-time judicial extern for Magistrate Judge Patricia Trumbull in U. S. District Court, Northern District of
California. She graduated cum laude from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1992 and began
working for the Firm in November 1992. She is a principal of the
Firm in its San Jose office and currently serves as the Firm’s President.
Gregory M. Pshide
Greg Pshide graduated from Whitman College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics.After graduation, he was employed by Household Credit Services as a Senior Fraud Investigator in the credit card division. He graduated from McGeorge School of Law, where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor in 1998.Before joining the Firm in 1999, Mr. Pshide interned with the California Attorney General's office in the Department of Writs and Appeals. He is admitted to practice before all courts under the jurisdiction of California and the Eastern District of California U.S. Federal Court. Mr. Pshide is a principal of the Firm and currently manages the Firm’s Sacramento office.
Darla L. Bava graduated on the dean’s list from Modesto Junior
College in 1992 with an Associate of Arts degree. She obtained a Juris Doctor degree in 1997 from
Humphrey’s School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice
before the Eastern District Court of California and Northern District Court of
Ms. Bava has practiced civil litigation and workers’
compensation since 1997. She joined the firm in 2003. Since then, she has worked closely with the
Monterey County Deputy District Attorney and its Investigation Unit to assist with criminal prosecutions and in
obtaining restitution orders and sentencing concerning workers’ compensation fraud. She has assisted
employers and insurance carriers in obtaining numerous workers’ compensation fraud convictions in Monterey
County, Merced County and Santa Clara County. Ms. Bava is a principal of the Firm in its Salinas office
and currently serves as the managing attorney for the Salinas office.
Gia K. Schneider
Gia K. Schneider received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1993 and her Juris Doctor Degree from Boston University School of Law. She was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1999 and has practiced exclusively in the specialty area of workers’ compensation defense since that time. Before attending law school, Ms. Schneider worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor in Northern and Southern California.
Ms. Schneider is a member of the State Bar of California and has served as the Defense Co-Chair of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, Workers’ Compensation Division. Ms. Schneider currently serves on the Sponsorship Committee and the Advisory Council for Kids Chance California. She is a principal of the Firm and currently serves as the Corporate Secretary of the firm. She also serves as the managing attorney of the San Jose office.
Chris Martin graduated
from California State University, Sacramento, in 1994, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communications. He also graduated from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor in 1999. Prior to joining the firm, he was employed by the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office and James International Law, Inc. He has also served as a Deputy District Attorney in the Amador County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted workers’ compensation and insurance fraud cases.
In 2008, he retired from the United States Air Force Reserves where he served in Operation Desert Shield and in the Persian Gulf War. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. Mr. Martin is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation law. He is a principal of the Firm. You can find Mr. Martin listed in the 2009 publication of Northern California Super Lawyers.
Brion Berkley graduated from Monterey College of Law in May 2017. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, on the Island of Oahu. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Berkley worked as a paralegal specializing in family law, wills and trusts, and property law matters. He also worked as a court mediator for both unlawful detainer cases and small claims court in Monterey County. Mr. Berkley began practicing workers' compensation after being admitted to the Bar in February 2018. In addition to his practice, he is a licensed building contractor and teaches construction law one night a week at a licensing school in San Jose. Mr. Berkley is an Associate in our Salinas office.
Cinthia L. Gibson
Cinthia L. Gibson graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned a degree in Liberal Arts and General Studies, with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and Substance Abuse Counseling in 2012. She graduated from Lincoln Law School, Sacramento, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2018. While in law school, she was the recipient of the Faculty Achievement Award in Workers' Compensation and worked as a Law Clerk for a workers' compensation attorney. Since graduating law school and passing the California Bar exam, she has continued to work as an attorney in the field of workers' compensation. Ms. Gibson joined our Firm in 2019 and is an Associate in our Sacramento office.
Jennifer Zander graduated from Union Institute University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice Management. In 2015, she graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. She has been a member of the State Bar of California since 2016 and has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Northern District.
Ms. Zander completed several internships in criminal law and employment law. She has practiced exclusively in workers’ compensation law since 2016 and has experience representing both defendants and injured workers. Ms. Zander joined our firm in 2019 and is an Associate in our Salinas office.
Ashley A. Stockton
Ashley A. Stockton graduated from California State University Monterey Bay with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and graduated with a Juris Doctorate and a Master’s degree in Legal Studies from Monterey College of Law. She has six years of experience in Workers’ Compensation as a Law Clerk and was admitted to the State Bar in December 2019. She is an Associate in our Salinas office.
Lucina Rios earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Legal Studies with honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2014. Ms. Rios earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2018. While in law school, Ms. Rios completed internships at the US District Court for the Northern District of California and in the California Court of Appeal. Ms. Rios’ employment law experience includes completing a fellowship at California Rural Legal Assistance in Salinas, California, where she worked on wage and hour matters, and her former employment at the Brereton Law Office in Santa Cruz, California, where she advised employers on employment agreements, employee classification and wage and hourlaw. Ms. Rios is an Associate in our San Jose office.
